Patricia (Reed) Fortier, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Wolcott on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. For the last 64 years, she was the devoted and beloved wife of Donald Fortier.
Pat was born in Waterbury on November 3, 1940, daughter of the late John M. and Margaret (Garrigus) Reed. She attended Post College and went on to dedicate over 15 years of service to SNET.
An avid gardener and talented quilter, Pat had a passion for life's beautiful things. She also loved to travel, always cherishing the special memories of her trip to Alaska with Don, alongside her lifelong best friend Barbara and Barbara's husband, Ed. Pat’s faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a dedicated, active, and lifetime member of the Mill Plain Union Church in Waterbury, where she joyfully shared her love of music by singing in the choir.
In addition to her husband, Donald, she leaves behind her four sons and their families: Kenneth and his wife, Jane; Michael and his wife, Jonna; Keith and his wife, Susan; and David and his wife, Sharon.
She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
The Fortier family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jennifer, who has been a wonderful aide and compassionate caregiver to both Pat and Donald. The family would also like to thank VITAS Healthcare for their assistance and compassion.
Graveside services, including military honors for Donald, will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 11:30 AM in New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Rd., Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the cemetery before 11:30 AM. Woodtick Memorial is honored to serve the Fortier family.
