WOLCOTT- Miss Patricia Emons passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Hitchcock Lake Tuesday, August 29, 2023. She was 83.
Born in Waterbury on December 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Lillian (Montello) Emons.
Miss Emons dedicated her life to the service of others through teaching. Her love of teaching led her to Wolcott High School to begin a 27 year career with the High School. As a young geometry teacher, she was able to combine her enthusiasm for reading with the subject at hand. Alice in Wonderland was always on deck to help explain problems. Her fairness and patience were appreciated by her students year after year. She was teacher of the year in 1986 and received many accolades for her teaching and service at the High School.
Her love of interacting with students led to her transitioning to be Assistant Principal of Wolcott High School before her retirement.
Upon her "retirement" Ms. Emons found she missed teaching and the students. She returned to education by stepping into the role of Principal of Childrens Community School in Waterbury. She adored her students at CCS and shared many stories regarding the kids and their activities.
Miss Emons took great pride in her students and kept in contact with many of them through the years.
She had the most amazing group of friends (including the 60s chicks) that will truly miss her laughter.
Patricia served on the Southmayd Home Board of Directors for more than 20 years. She held all of the Officer positions at one time or another during her tenure. Her enthusiasm for Southmayd allowed her to entice many other individuals to join the Board over the years and many of those women still serve the Board today.
Patricia loved watching UCONN Womens basketball. Her brother, Russ, always made sure she knew when the Lady Huskies were playing. When the game was on, it was on! No interruptions and dont block the TV!
Patricia traveled extensively and thoroughly enjoyed it. Europe, Russia, Australia and all over the US. Hilton Head, NC and Sedona, AZ were among her favorite places. Her stories and pictures of her travels were mesmerizing.
Patricias true joy was bringing her family and friends together at her house on the lake.
Patricia was a strong, independent, warm, caring and thoughtful woman. She had a witty sense of humor and a feisty can-do attitude. Patricia was a rare breed. She will truly be missed by all.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers Russell Emons and his wife Janice of North Las Vegas, NV and David Emons and his wife Pamela of Wolcott.
She leaves four beloved nephews: Russell Emons, Jr and his wife Linda of Aldie, VA, Christopher Emons and his wife Lisa of Wolcott, CT, Michael Emons of Franklin, TN and Darin Emons and his wife Kathy of Cheshire, CT. She also leaves two cherished nieces: Kimberly De Luca and her husband Michael of Cheshire, CT and Kari Humel and her husband Ed of Nokomis, FL. She leaves several grand nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Lilly, who has decided to live with Pats brother, David.
