WATERBURY ~ Virginia Gelinas, 78, passed away on April 4th at Waterbury Hospital after a long illness. She became the widow to Fernand Gelinas in 1989 after 36 years of marriage.
Mrs. Gelinas was born September 30, 1932 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Sabatino and Antoinette (Avitable) Santucci. She retired from Airpax in Cheshire after thirty years, she worked in soldering. She spent time bowling, was an avid reader, worked on jig-saw puzzles, went to the casinos, played her daily numbers and most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She leaves her daughters, Linda Gelinas and her partner Karen Dominy of Waterbury, Cynthia Santulli and her husband Dana of Waterbury, a son, Jeffrey Gelinas of Waterbury, a daughter in law Lynn Gelinas of Oakville, six grandsons, one great grandson, one great grand daughter, her brothers, John and Evelyn Santucci, David Santucci, sisters, Rose Boisvert, Elanor Capristo, Theresa Porter and her husband Frank, Annette Rinaldi and her husband Joseph and a sister in law, Claire Gelinas. She was predeceased by a son and daughter, Steven and Sandra Gelinas, two brothers, Armand and Al and three sisters, Nancy, Mary and Sarah.
A Mass will be held on Friday, April 8th at 10:00 am at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church. 74 West Main St. Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the church.
