Wolcott Mrs. Shirley (Deland) Swain, 95, passed away on Saturday morning, August 10, at her home. She was the widow of Roger S. Swain. Mrs. Swain was born March 25, 1924 in Guilford, daughter of the late George Edward and Mary Cathleen (Ahearn) Deland. Raised in Guilford she attended local schools and was a graduate of Guilford High School. She had been employed at Infodex, Inc. for twenty years. She loved to travel, her favorite destination was Ireland, and enjoyed Saturday rides in the country as well as dining out frequently. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila A. Acey of Waterbury; her niece, Susan S. Kalman; her nephew, Gary P. Swain; her cousins, Gale and James Ahearn and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, August 12, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, August 13, at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
