Wolcott Mrs. Shirley Grace (Beardsley) Johnson, 68, passed away on Monday morning, March 21, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of Charles W. Johnson, Sr. Shirley was born August 22, 1953 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Earle and Grace (Laird) Beardsley. Raised in Monroe, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Masuk High School, Class of 1971. In September of 2014 Shirley retired from the Wolcott Public Schools after working as a paraprofessional at Alcott and Wakelee Schools for 16 years. Prior to that she had been employed at Yankee gas and CL & P. In addition to her husband of 44 years she is survived by her two sons, Oakleigh (Leigh) Smith and his wife Melissa and their children, Angela and Zachary John and Charles W. Johnson, Jr and his wife Holly and their children, Ashley and Charlie Johnson; her sister, Kathy Gerber; her brother, Greg Beardsley and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Shirleys family on Friday, March 25, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Woodtick Memorial Funeral Home at 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirleys name to the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Dept.
