Wolcott- Mrs. Natalie G. (Materia) Valerio, 90, died on Wednesday morning, July 23, at her home. She was the wife of Clement Valerio. Mrs. Valerio was born September 12, 1923 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Fortunato and M. Josephine (Barresi) Materia. She worked for many years at Uniroyal in Naugatuck and retired from Devon Precision. She was a member of the Cercemaggiore Community Club in Oakville and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and sewing. In addition to her husband of 68 years she is survived by three sons, Clement Valerio and his wife Alberta of Cheshire, John Valerio and his wife Janice of Durham and Christopher Valerio of Torrington; one sister, Angela Grosso of Winthrop, MA; her sister-in-law, Lucita Materia of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren, John Michael Valerio of Los Angeles, CA, Sara Jane Morier and her husband Robert of NYC, Andrea Fallin and her husband Jonathan of Brooklyn, NY and Albert Valerio of Cheshire; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Salvatore R. Materia and Luigi Grosso. The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Innovative Hospice Care at St. Marys Hospital, the staff of Wolcott View Manor and the staff of VNA Health Care-Care of Hospice Waterbury for the care given to Natalie. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 10:30 A.M. from Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. to St. Maria Goretti Church for funeral mass at 11:00 A.M. A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
