Obituary

WOLCOTT - Mercedes Cedy Fredsall, 87, passed away January 4, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Lowell Fred Fredsall, whom she was married to for 57 years. Cedy was born November 11, 1936, in Pittston, PA, the daughter of the late Paul and Kathryn (Carey) Clisham. She worked as a Nurses Aid at St. Marys Hospital and at the Waterbury Surgical Center, and was also the former office manager for Dr. Jose M. Eguia, M.D. Cedy was a longtime communicant of the former St. Maria Goretti Church in Wolcott and was devoted to her daily prayers. That didnt stop her from having a wicked sense of humor, though. She loved making people laugh, being the life of the party, and finding single men for anyone in need of a husband. But above all else, she adored spending time with her big Irish familyshe was the youngest daughter of 15 children, and she always strove to share her love with her many family members in any way that she could. Cedy is survived by her children Kathryn Mulligan of Old Lyme, CT, and David Fredsall and his wife Michele of Wolcott, CT; her grandchildren William and his wife Jennifer Moriarty, Stephen and his wife Kimberly Fredsall, Aislyn Fredsall, and Dylan Mulligan; her great grandchildren Julia Moriarty and Jaxon Fredsall; her brother William and his wife Dorie Clisham; her sisters-in-law Margie Clisham and Johanna Clisham; her brother-in-law Emil Martino; her numerous nieces and nephews; and her favorite actor, Dwayne The Rock Johnson. She was predeceased by her children Kathryn Ann, Stephen, William, and Donna Fredsall; her son-in-law Richard Mulligan; her granddaughter Colleen Moriarty; her siblings Stephen, Patrick Buddy, Anita, Paul Carey, Joan, Jackie, Briday, Tommy, John Deacon, Mary, Bruce, Dennis Ned, and Joseph Ronnie; and countless other family members, who were all there to greet her (and throw a party, probably) when she arrived in heaven. Cedy suffered many losses in her life, but she was a true exemplar of strength and love.
