Wolcott- Mrs. Mary Lou (Bartley) Marino, 61, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 18, at her home in Wolcott. She was the wife of Anthony J. Marino.
Mary was born September 18, 1952 in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late John Francis and Edna (Armstrong) Bartley. Raised in Enfield, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Enfield High School. In 1974, she married Tony and they first settled in Waterbury. After starting a family, they moved to Wolcott in 1987 where they have lived ever since. They had two children, Kevin J. Marino of Danbury and Lia N. Marino, of Brookline, MA, both of whom she leaves behind.
Mary was employed at Wolcott High School as an Instructional Assistant. During her 23 years of service in the Wolcott School System, both as a volunteer and as a professional, she developed lifelong and strong bonds with many of her students and co-workers.
Mary cared deeply and passionately for her family and friends. Lia and Kevin were the light of her life. Mary enjoyed every precious moment nurturing them while growing up and was proud to see them both grow into responsible adults. Mary and her husband Tony enjoyed 39 memorable and happy years of married life together. Every day of Mary and Tonys marriage ended with a kiss goodnight and an "I love you." Over her childhood and adulthood, Marys sense of humor, laughter and open heart, gained her many close and lasting friends. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
In addition to her husband and children, Mary is survived by her brother John Bartley of Suffield and his wife, Donna. She is also survived by her daughter, Lias fiance, Sean Holbrook. She was predeceased by her sister, Jane (Bartley) Bacon. Mary also leaves behind her mother in law, Ann Marino; brothers and sisters in law, Thomas and Diane Marino, Maria (Marino) Volza, Sandy Marino, Jr., Carol Bertrand Marino and Patty Kalin. She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Julie, Alyssa, Alex, Daniel and Thomas as well as Sarah, Benjamin, Gina, Christopher, Andrew and Veronica.
The family would like to thank the Town of Wolcott and specifically, Pats IGA and the Wolcott Lions Club, for their help and support during this difficult time.
