Obituary

Watertown - Mrs. Mariette (Fortier) Veronneau, 78, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015 at Apple Rehab surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Mr. Marcel Veronneau for 60 years. Mariette was born on December 15, 1936 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Gaston and Jeanette (LaLiberte) Fortier. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Catholic High. Mariette was a communicant of the Shrine of St. Annes in Waterbury for a number of years and was a member of the Ladies of St. Annes. She was also a former member of the St. John the Evangelist Choir. Mariette will be remembered as a devoted daughter and sister and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mariette is survived by her three daughters, Linda Gorman and her husband Daniel, Susan Palasciano and her husband Paul, and Janice Shannon and her husband John; a sister, Lorraine Daddona and her husband Joseph; ten grandchildren, Kathryn Green and her husband Brandon, Daniel Gorman and his wife Mary; Nicole Gorman; John Shannon and his wife Dana; Rachel Shannon, Laura Shannon, Christopher DuPont, Eric DuPont, Matthew Palasciano, and Paul Palasciano; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Fortier. The family would like to thank Mariettes caregivers Diane Lange and Maureen Puglio, the nurses and staff at Apple Rehab and VITAS Hospice for the love, care and devotion shown to her. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening, April 12, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at10:00 A.M. at the Shrine of St. Annes, 515 S. Main St., Waterbury. Prayers of Committal will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum in Watertown. Memorial contributions may be made in Mariettes name to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or the Shrine of St. Anne, 515 South Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06706
