Obituary

Carol Marie Fafard Pagano passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2022, in Bristol, CT. She was 9 days shy of her 81st birthday. Carol was born November 13, 1941, and grew up in Bristol with her family on Summer Street. A 1959 graduate of Bristol High School, she was a member of the Biology, Bridge, French and Glee Clubs as well as the Athletic Association and the National Honor Society. After graduating from Bristol High, she studied Nursing at Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, graduated from Central Connecticut State University, Cum Laude, with a Nursing Degree and attended graduate school at St. Josephs College. Her nursing career spanned 44 years, including Critical Care, Cardiac Rehab and Nursing Management and Administration, primarily at Bristol Hospital. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, Connecticut Nurses Association, CCSU Alumni Association as well as the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Her professional recognition includes being a member of Sigma Theta Tau and earning the Bristol Hospital Outstanding Service Award in 1989 and 1996. She enjoyed many years on Cape Cod and retired to Florida but still spent her summers in Bristol. Carol, an avid traveler, went on several cruises and visited over 43 countries during her lifetime including the Caribbean, Europe and Central and South America. In addition to traveling, her pastimes included painting, gardening, reading, singing, cooking, and volunteering. Today we remember her as she joins her husband, Joseph Pagano, parents, Arthur and Rose Fafard, and her sister Doreen Graugard, with God in Heaven. Carol is survived by her sisters, Shirley Spinella and Janice Hall, her stepdaughter Lori Scarfi and granddaughter, Sarah Bernier. She is also survived by her two nephews, John Spinella and Todd Lewandoski and her three nieces, Wendy Biernat, Brenda Spinella, and Kirsten Aguilar, and their families. A caring spirit, Carol made life enjoyable for those around her. Her faith, compassion, and generosity have left a mark on all who knew and loved her.
