Wolcott - Mrs. Carmen S. (VanNuss) DeLamotte, 80, of Wolcott, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her home. She was the widow of Mr. Rudolph "Rudy" J. DeLamotte.
Carmen was born on December 2, 1934 in Haarlem, Holland, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Magdalena VanNuss. Carmen was a gifted swimmer and in her early years was a member of the Holland Olympic Swim and Water Polo teams. She was also a champion synchronized swimmer. Over the years Carmen also taught multiple swimming classes in Wolcott. She was an avid UConn Huskies and soccer fan.
Carmen is survived by her sister, Lucie Turkenburg of Holland; her four children, Marie-Louise Yost, Patty Murphy, Rudy "Bam" DeLamotte and his wife Debbie, and Mitzy Stowell; six grandchildren, A.J. Blue, Joelle and Matthew Yost, Jacqui and Stephanie Stowell, and Ashley Bradley; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Niveaa, Jalynn, and Liam; and several nieces and nephews in Holland.
As requested by Carmen, all funeral services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to be made in Carmens name to The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708
