Wolcott- Bernice J. Longo, 77, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the wife of the late Vincent F. Longo, Sr. Bernice was born in Waterbury on August 20, 1939 to the late Albert and Roseann (Houle) Dupre. She was raised in Vermont and attended local schools before moving back to Waterbury after graduating high school. Bernice and Vincent married in 1963 and built their home in Wolcott in 1965. She had worked as a CNA for VNA Home HealthCare for 25 years before retiring just 2 years ago. Bernice loved going on cruises, trips to Vermont, and tending to her garden, especially her sunflowers. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed having family dinners at Nanas house every Sunday. Bernice is survived by her two sons, Vincent Longo, Jr., and his wife, Maria, of Wolcott, and their daughter, Sharon Longo; and Gregory Longo, and his wife, Kathleen, of Wolcott, and their children, Kaitlyn Heller, and her husband, Mark, Gregory Longo Jr., and Thomas Longo; her two daughters, Diane Woodley, of Waterbury, and her children, Elizabeth Inturrisi, and Madison Oulundsen; and Christine Loescher, and her husband, Jerry, of Oxford, and their children, Noah Loescher, and Chloe Loescher; her great grandchildren, Breanna; Isabella; and Mila; her brother, Roland Dupre, of Wolcott; her sister, Pauline Zembrzuski, of Wolcott; her long-time companion, David Opotzner; several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Including her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Vincent F. Longo, Sr., in 2002. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 1300 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Meet directly at church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury.
