Wolcott - Mrs. Alice S. Marzucca passed away on May 22, 2012. Alice was born in Waterbury on February 4, 1919 to the late Frank and Magdalena (Ridzak) Szimanowski. She became a widow in 1998 when her beloved husband Edward passed.
Alice grew up in Waterbury and survived Polio as a child and cancer later in her life. She worked at the Shoe Hardware Company before and during WWII. She met Edward, married and they moved to Wolcott where they both remained. Alice became a wonderful mother, wife and homemaker. She sewed for her family and made items for their home. Alice was an accomplished artist, many of her pieces were still paintings and beautiful.
At one time she was an officer as well as a member of the Watertown Art League. She loved to look at the flowers and foliage in her yard.
She is survived by her sons, Edward J. Marzucca Jr. and his wife Deborah of Beacon Falls, Michael Marzucca of Wolcott, her grandchildren, Edward J. Marzucca III and his wife Ornella of Wolcott, Nicholas J. Marzucca of San Diego, Michael J. Marzucca of Waterbury, Todd Estes and his wife Debbie of Gales Ferry, CT, Kim Densrund and her husband Rick of NY, nine grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Alice was pre deceased by four brothers.
Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception church for a funeral Mass at 9:00 am on Friday, May 25. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott .
