Wolcott- We mourn the passing of Warren Frederick Green, beloved husband of Katherine (Lucian) Green, of Wolcott, who died peacefully the morning of February 26, 2014 at the age of 92. Born in Waterbury, December 18, 1921, he was the son of Elizabeth (Slack) and Frederick A. Green. He was the quarterback (named Gunga Din) and a 1940 graduate of Leavenworth High School and later attended the Waterbury Continuation School graduating as a journeyman machinist. His career commenced at the Waterbury Manufacturing Company, but was interrupted when he served his country in the Navy during World War II. He returned to Waterbury to the Chase Brass and Copper Company and later retired from the Anaconda American Brass Companyin 1984.He was a member of the American Legion Post #165 and the Waterbury Stamp Club. He was a lifelong member and deacon of the Mill Plain Union Church. He was a stellar bowler at the Lakewood Lanes, coached Little League in Wolcott and was an avid fan of the women Huskies of UConn. Warren is survived by his wife of 71 years, his daughter Karen Green Recor and her husband Rod, his son Dr. Warren F. Green Jr. and his wife Tina of Massachusetts; his sister Barbara Grenier; five grandchildren: Rod Recor, Bret Recor, Nicole Green Shepardson, Cassandra Green Koch, Christina Green, their spouses and his six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Fred Green. Arrangements: A funeral service in his memory will be held on Saturday, March 1st at the Mill Plain Union Church, 242 Southmayd Road, Waterbury 06705, at 11:00 A.M.. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VNA, 50 Brookside Road, Waterbury, CT 06708-1402 or the Mill Plain Union Church.
