Obituary

Pensacola, FL- Walter J. Cassidy, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, of natural causes while at his home, with his niece Li Mei at his side, with whom he resided. Walter was born in New York City on September 7, 1929 to the late Arnold and Blanche (Gilbert) Cassidy. He grew up in Waterbury, attended St. Ann's School, Mont St. Charles Academy in Rhode Island and then graduated from Pensacola College in Florida. He served his country honorably in the Navy and retired as Chief Petty Officer after thirty years of dedication. He is survived by a son, James P. Cassidy of Waterbury, an adopted daughter, Ann Watson and her husband Tom of Palestine, TX, a brother, Wilbur Cassidy and his wife Rita of Watertown, a sister, Joan LoRusso and her husband William of Waterbury, his grand-daughters, Heather L. Cassidy of Waterbury, Amy L. Cassidy of Terryville, Cassidy Watson and Allyson Watson both of Palestine, TX, a great grandson, Paulo J. Pinto of Terryville, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first and second wives, Ruth of Santa Clara, California and Susan of Pensacola, Florida. All services were private. Burial was at the National Naval Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on August 17, 2011
