Wolcott - Mr. Robert Daniel Pickett, Sr., 83, of Wolcott, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mrs. Irene (DeCola) Pickett. Robert was born on July 17, 1931 in Waterbury, son of the late James and Catherine (McCarthy) Pickett. He served honorably in the United States Army Second Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was a member of the Army Honor Guard for a year and was present at the Inauguration of President Eisenhower. Robert was a longtime CPA and partner at Kimball, Krenik, Pickett and Gugliotti. He loved golf, gardening with his wife, was a talented artist, and a longtime Cincinnati Bengals fan. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren. Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his children, Catherine Mencio and her husband, Art, and Robert Pickett, Jr.; six grandchildren, Ryan Mencio, Drew Mencio, Shanna Mencio, Robert Pickett III, Caitlin Pickett, and Babbette Steele Pickett; a sister in law, Barbara Pickett of Middlebury; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Claire Kennedy and Renee Summa; and a brother, James Pickett. The family would like to thank the Waterbury VNA for the love and care given to Robert. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 517 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Family and friends may call on Wednesday morning, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will be held privately.
