Wolcott- Mr. Robert C. Kleinschmidt, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 11, at the Waterbury Hospital.
Mr. Kleinschmidt was born August 26, 1934 in Waterbury, son of the late Walter Kleinschmidt and the late Elizabeth Kleinschmidt Dauch. He had been employed for 38 years at the Bristol Water Department.
He was an active member, employee and trustee of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterbury. His passions were his family, his church and working in his yard. He will be remembered for the love and joy he found in time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Roberta K. Gentile and her husband Gene of Bristol, Carrie E. Kleinschmidt and her partner Jennifer Whitcomb of Andover, Steven R. Kleinschmidt and his wife Karen of Waterbury and David J. Kleinschmidt of Wolcott; two brothers, Walter Kleinschmidt of Wolcott and Richard Kleinschmidt of FL; six grandchildren, Adriana Gentile and her fianc Michael Wrobel, Gina Gentile, Kaylyn Kleinschmidt, Kevin Kleinschmidt, Carolyn Kleinschmidt and Alex Kleinschmidt; his best friend and companion, Nancy (McCarthy) Kleinschmidt of Bristol; his God daughter, Amy Fenzel and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Howard Kleinschmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church on 503 Chase Parkway in Waterbury. Friends may call at the church Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
