Wolcott- Mr. Richard C. Blacker, 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday evening, August 26, at his home. He was the husband of Annie M. (Ball) Blacker.
Mr. Blacker was born in Waterbury on August 22, 1928, son of the late John and Agnes (Flinter) Blacker. Raised in Waterbury he was a graduate and valedictorian of St. Thomas Grammar School and attended Leavenworth High School. He had been employed for thirty years at Eastern Color. He was an active communicant of St. Pius X Church and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by three daughters, Linda J. Mascolo and her husband Alfonso of Wolcott, Carolyn J. Hopkins and her husband Mark of Waterbury and Leslie A. Tiso and her husband Richard of Wolcott; seven grandchildren, Joseph and Philip Mascolo, Sarah Hopkins, Richard, Kyle and Aubrey Tiso and Richard DiFelice; two great grandchildren, Emily and Joseph Mascolo and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Alice Blacker and Dawn DiFelice; one sister and three brothers.
The family would like to thank VNA Healthcare, the 3rd floor nurses at St. Marys Hospital, the staff at Smilow Cancer at the Leever Center and Dr. Lanao and staff for the care they provided to Mr. Blacker.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning, August 30, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be private.
