Wolcott Mr. John R. Santopietro, 77, passed away on Saturday morning, February 11, at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Longo) Santopietro. John was born July 11, 1939 in Waterbury, son of the late John and Philomena (Scannapieco) Santopietro. Raised in Waterbury he had attended local schools and Leavenworth High School. He retired from the City of Waterbury after twenty eight years working at the waste treatment plant. After retiring from the City of Waterbury he worked part time at Filenes. He will be remembered for his love of woodworking, but most of all time spent with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 52 years he is survived by, one son, Kenneth John Santopietro and his wife Lucy of Thomaston; one daughter, Susan Santopietro Domejczyk and her husband Ted of Plantsville; one brother, Art Santopietro and his wife Joyce of Pawleys Island, SC; two grandchildren, Thomas John Santopietro and Marisa Rose Santopietro; two sisters-in-law, Maureen Martinelli of Wolcott and Sharon Santopietro of Canton; one brother-in-law, John Longo of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Santopietro. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 15, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church in Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org
