Wolcott- James J. Mullen, Jr., 80, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017. He was the devoted husband of the late Gladys (Miranda) Mullen, for 59 years. Jim was born in Waterbury, on December 10, 1936 to the late James J. Mullen Sr. and Margaret (Cuddy) Mullen. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1990, he opened his own business, J.J.M. Transportation. After closing his business, Jim went on to work as a mailman for the Wolcott School System, where he has worked for the past 15 years. Jim had a way of making friends anywhere he went. Whether it was his sarcastic sense of humor, or his caring nature, he had a way of putting a smile on everyones face. Jim will truly be missed by all who knew him. Jim is survived by his son, Gary J. Mullen; his surrogate daughter, Sue Berf Mulcahy; 9 nieces and nephews; and his granddogs, Chapps and Max. Including his beloved wife, Gladys, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Marjorie (Mullen) Moore. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jims name to the Wolcott Dog Pound, 225 Nichols Road, Wolcott, CT 06716.
