Obituary

Waterbury ~ James Mayo, 78, of Blueridge Dr. passed away on Thursday, May 19th at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband to Solange (Gelinas) Mayo for forty five years. James was born August 30, 1932 in Houlton Maine, son of the late Florence (Dow) and Philip M. Mayo Sr. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who touched the lives of all he knew and came in contact with. He loved hiking, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family. The Lord blessed us when he healed him giving us an additional 26 years of love, joy and memories that well cherish forever. He always said "the best has yet to come" well, the best has come for our beloved James Mayo. Jim was a member of the Waterbury Baptist Ministries Church in Waterbury and member of the Full Gospel Business Mens Association, he was a Pastoral volunteer in hospitals and nursing homes and was involved with various churches while on many boards. Jim worked for over 30 years as a toolmaker and supervisor for Cly-del before he retired. Besides his wonderful wife, Solange, James is survived by his children, Jeanie Mayo of New Hampshire, Patricia Summa of Waterbury, Barbara Mayo of Naugatuck, Michael Pelletier of Terryville, Jim A. Mayo of Waterbury Robert Pelletier of Bristol, Joanne Pelletier of Thomaston, Tim Pelletier of Watertown, a sister, Jean Allen of Las Vegas, nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. James was predeceased by a brother Philip M. Mayo Jr. and a sister, Joyce Cowan. A celebration of Jamess life will be held on Monday, May 23rd at the Waterbury Baptist Ministries Church, 222 West Main Street in Waterbury, at 12:30 pm. Calling hours will be held at the Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott on Monday from 9:30 am until we leave in procession.
