Obituary

New Hartford - Mr. J. Paul LaBonte, 81, of New Hartford, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was the widower of Mrs. Pauline (Perreault) LaBonte. Paul was born on May 17, 1932 in Soldier Pond, ME, son of the late Josephel and Gertrude (Daigle) LaBonte. Growing up in Maine, he attended local schools. Paul served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, Paul moved to CT where he later started his family. He was a communicant at St. Michaels Church in Waterbury and later at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Harwinton. He was also a proud member of the VFW Post 7330 in Oakville for a number of years. He lived with his daughter Lisa for the last 8 years in New Hartford. Paul is survived by his children, Dennis LaBonte and his wife, Susan, of Windsor, CT, Joseph LaBonte and his wife, Denise, of San Antonio, TX, Laurine Desrosiers and her husband, Wayne, of Washington, CT, Lisa Holm and her husband, James, of New Hartford, Paula Caron, and her husband Philip, of Waterbury, and Lynn Janco and her husband Michael, of Torrington; grandchildren, Michael and Eric Hitchcock, Kevin and Jeremiah Holm, Marc and Aimee Caron, Wesley Winkler, Alyssa LaBonte and Kisha Baker; 13 great-grandchildren, Cerra, Jacob, Zachary, Abigail, Ethan, Xavier, Christian, Lainey, Emily, Emma, Lily, Hannah and Morgan; and a sister, Jeanne Manning and her husband, David of Pisgah Forest, NC. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gilman LaBonte, Elias LaBonte, Leo LaBonte and Junior LaBonte; two sisters, Sylvia Sirois and Cecile Dubois; and his step-brother, Gordon LaBonte. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Northwest VNA, DaVita Dialysis of Torrington, Torrington Health and Rehab, the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital ICU staff and Dr. Kovalchik and his staff for all of their compassion shown to Paul throughout his final days. Arrangements: Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 22, at 10 A.M. at St. Michaels Church, 62 St. Michaels Dr., Waterbury. Prayers of committal will be held in the spring in Woodtick Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday evening, February 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Pauls name to DaVita Dialysis, 780 Litchfield St., #100, Torrington, CT 06790.
