Obituary

BRISTOL ~ George A. Lamontagne, 85, of Stafford Ave. passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Vitas Hospice in St. Marys Hospital while surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Viola (Violette) Lamontagne. George was born in Waterbury on November 7, 1926, son of the late Robert and Alice (Garneau) Lamontagne. George served his country as a US Marine and enlisted in February of 1945 and was honorably discharged in August of 1946. He was a devote Catholic as he was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great in Bristol and grew up at the Shrine of St. Annes in Waterbury. George was a retired Secretary-Treasurer of IBT Local #677 and held many offices with the union. He was very active at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, Florida before moving back to Connecticut in 2009. Besides his wife, Viola of 62 years, he leaves his children, Glen and his wife Victoria Lamontagne of Cheshire, Laurie Lamontagne of Terryville, Lynn Lamontagne of Harwinton, Keith and his wife Janet Lamontagne of Old Saybrook, Leslie Lamontagne of West Hartford, his grandchildren, Kyle, Amanda and Katelyn Lamontagne. Also he is survived by his siblings Jeanette Brown of Florida, Roland Lamontagne of Florida, Doris Roberge of Canada, Leona Kerwin of Southbury and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Gerard and his sister, Lucille Patenaude. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to the Shrine of St. Anne Church in Waterbury for a funeral mass at 10:30 am. Burial will be on Saturday in Calvary Cemetery at 10am. A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of St. Annes Restoration Fund 515 S. Main Street Waterbury, CT 06706 or to the Holy Family Retreat House, 303 Tunxis Rd. Farmington, CT 06032.
