Port St. Lucie, Florida - Edward Bagley Jr., age 85, formerly of Wolcott, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie Florida surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Doris (Cook) Bagley. Mr. Bagley was born on April 25, 1929, in Waterbury CT., to the late Rita (Pickering) Bagley and Edward J. Bagley, Sr. He worked as a manager for SNET for over 37 years before retiring. Ed's service to the town of Wolcott first started as a part time police officer and later as a police commissioner. Ed's political career extended decades. He held various positions on boards and commissions and was the first selectman for many years before being elected Wolcott's first mayor. After moving to Florida, Ed was an active member at Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Sons and Daughters of Ireland. Besides his many political achievements, his greatest love was his family. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his daughter Cheryl Champagne and her husband, Rick of Wolcott, his son Thomas Bagley and his wife Andrea of Wolcott, his son Edward Bagley III of Wolcott, and his daughter Kathryn Carberry and her husband Lawrence of Litchfield. He will be deeply missed by his granddaughters Lindsay (Bagley) Holland, Kelly (Champagne) Gardino, Stephanie (Rinaldi) Curtiss, and Danielle Carberry. He also leaves behind four great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 517 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening, October 30 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and Friday morning, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Ed to any Wolcott charity of their choosing.
