Waterbury - Mr. Charles H. Austin (Hooker), 69, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 20, at Vitas Innovative Hospice at St. Marys Hospital. M. Austin was born March 1, 1946 in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Leland and Frances (Rathbone) Hooker. He was raised in Houghton, MI, graduating from Houghton High School, class of 1964. He had served honorably in the U.S. Navy for two years and then was a graduate of Michigan Tech in 1973. His job took him to Maryland and then Connecticut, where he settled. He had been an active member of the Connecticut Guitar Society. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Acey, of Waterbury; his daughter, Sarah E. Hughes of Arlington, TX; two sisters, Nancy Nelson of Neenah, WI and Susan Hooker of Hancock, MI; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. All funeral services are private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd.
