Waterbury ~ MaryAnn (Dufour) Lavertue, 72, of Whitewood Rd., passed on Monday, February 5, 2012, after a brief illness. She was the widower to Roger R. Lavertue.
MaryAnn was born April 13, 1939 in Frenchville, Maine, daughter of the late Anna (Langdon) and Henry S. Dufour. She attended schools in Waterbury and The Shrine of St. Anne Church. MaryAnn had been employed at Burndy in Waterbury as a machine operator and then BMI in Thomaston until her retirement. She loved to go to Bingo and also scratch tickets. For many years MaryAnn sewed clothes for her children and would alter anyones clothes if needed. She was strong with the love she had for people, she was a person that would lend an ear and just listen. She was the foundation for her family. MaryAnn will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
She leaves her children, Roger J. Lavertue, Robert J. Lavertue, both of Waterbury, James J. Lavertue of Florida, Karen A. Osborn, Cecile A. Jensen, Sharon A Lavertue, Nancy M. Lavertue, Theresa M. Lavertue, Gail A Lamadeleine all of Waterbury, Carol A. Lattin of Bristol, Anna M. Demontigny of Norwich twenty one grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, thirteen brothers and sisters, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 10th at 10 am at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott, CT 06716. Family and friends are asked to gather by 10:30 am for a service at 11:30am. Burial will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Jaylynn Moses and dropped off at any Wells Fargo Bank.
