Mary (Albrycht) Manton, passed away at home on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the age of 92, surrounded by family. Mary lived in Wolcott since 1958. She was the wife of the late Edward T Manton Jr. She was born in Southington, CT, on January 16, 1923, daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Pernal) Albrycht. She was a graduate of Lincoln Lewis High School in Southington, CT.
During WWII, she was employed at an Army Air Force Base in South Carolina, as an office clerk in the Quarter Masters Office under the same captain as her husband. She retired from Allied Control/Gould in Plantsville, CT, in 1988, where she worked in the office for 39 years. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church, in Wolcott.
Mary enjoyed summers on Lake Champlain in VT, as well as playing cards with her brothers and sisters on Sundays.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Johnson, and her husband, Melvin L. Johnson Sr.; her 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; her sister Wanda Lorenzo; her brothers, Stanley and John Albrycht; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by her son, Thomas Manton; her daughter in law, Louise Manton; her brother, Adolph Albrycht; her sisters, Henrietta Fortuna and Jennie Slamons; and her grandson, Melvin L. Johnson Jr.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 4 at 9:15 a.m. from Woodtick Memorial to St. Pius X Church, Wolcott. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made in Marys name to the Harold Lever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, CT 06708.
