Obituary

Wolcott - Mary Crandall peacefully died with family and friends by her side on Monday, September 21 which was also her 90th birthday. Mary leaves her daughter, Anita and son, Walter. Family including son-in-law, Alfred Calabrese and daughter-in-law, Barbara Crandall with grandchildren Alfred Michael and Mathew Calabrese; Nicholas, Joshua and Torin Crandall, granddaughter in-laws Jennifer, Sarah and Cassidy all feel the loss of the familys heart and soul. Dear friends Peggy, Roger, Jimmy, Marylyn and Nancy all will miss Marys energy and love of the fresh air, her birds and entertaining squirrels. Mary, born in Chattanooga, TN and maintained close ties with her surviving sisters Joanne, Shiela and Marcia. After meeting the love of her life, Walter Crandall Jr. while both serving America during WWII, they married and started their family in Wolcott. Mary, a devoted wife and mom also found purpose at Wolcott High School as Administrative Assistant to the Principal. Mary enjoyed travel and many fond trips with her friend Loretta. Mary took much joy in the accomplishments of family and friends and was always the first one to advocate for others. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 until the start of the service. Burial will follow in the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to be made in Marys name to the Wolcott Police Department, 225 Nichols Rd, Wolcott or the Wolcott Volunteer Ambulance, 48 Todd Rd, Wolcott.
