Mrs. Marjorie Agnes Evans SOUTHINGTON- Mrs. Marjorie A. Evans, 92, passed peacefully on January 9, 2014 at the Southington Care Center with family at her side. Marjorie was born on September 1, 1921 in Waterbury to the late Henry and Mabel (Simpson) Hawkins. She worked for many years as an accountant for the EMS and for non-profit organizations as well as a bookkeeper. Marjorie, who resided in Wolcott most of her life enjoyed cake decorating, baking and gardening. She was an avid reader, loved to socialize with her childhood friends and family. Was a lifelong animal lover. Marjorie, worshiped at St. Pius X Church, active in the ladies auxiliary as well as a former member of the Red Hats. She was one of the first women in United States Marine Corp during WW11. She was cherished and survived by her children, Ronald Evans and his wife Diane of Delray Beach, FL, Marjorie Savage of South Carolina, Janet Fellows and her husband Rick of Wolcott, Fern Nadolny of Waterbury, Elaine Gagne and her husband Dennis of Wolcott, Carol Swanson of Wolcott, a sister Patricia Tremblay and her husband Lou of Avon, grandchildren, Elena, Avery, Ashley and Ronald of FL, William, Robert, Jennifer, Amanda, Gregory, Jeffrey of CT and Erica of FL, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Harold Hawkins. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the nurses and staff at Southington Care Center and Vitas Hospice for the love, compassion and support given to everyone during her stay. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3-7pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10am at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Woodtick Cemetery, Wolcott.
