WATERBURY ~ Marie Egline (Rossignol) Dixon, 93, of Waterbury passed away at St. Marys Hospital on Wednesday, January 12th. She was the widow of Walter C. Dixon. Mrs. Dixon was born January 22, 1917 in New Canada Plantation, Ft. Kent, ME, daughter of the late Hubald and Delina (Vosine) Rossignol. She retired from Bradley Memorial Hospital in 1977 after 18 years of service. She was a private duty nurse for many years and had also worked at Waterbury Hospital. She attended services at St. Maria Goretti Church. She leaves her son, Robert Dixon and his wife, Laura of Granby, a granddaughter, Bethany Marie Dixon of Ithaca, NY and several nieces and nephews. Marie was a wife and an incredible mother. She was a mother-in-law who saw only a daughter, not an "in-law". She was a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, but most of all she was a loving friend to each of us. She cherished the people in her life, and her love was unconditional. For those in need, her home was always open, a place of refuge; a change to "get on your feet". Her profession was nursing, and her passion was doing things to help people feel better. Her co-workers became her extended family. She loved life; she loved to hold someones hand and talk of days and a way of life gone by. She was loved and was often visited by family members and friends, and was blessed by their friendship and caring. Although her life was not always easy, it was rich and full and worthy of celebration. She made our world a better place. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:15 from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Maria Goretti Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am.
