WOLCOTT ~ Margaret "Peg" A. Podzunas, 83, of Wolcott passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was the widow of Albert Podzunas, Sr. to whom she had been married to for 56 Years. Peg was born April 25, 1929 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Nicholas and Frances (Thomasunis) Lipnicki. She was a machinist and a retired school bus driver for Wolcott. She was a communicant of St. Maria Goretti Church, American Legion, and the V.F.W. Margaret was an avid gardener and loved going to the ocean, but her first love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and will be missed by her son, Albert Podzunas, Jr. and wife, Paula of Wolcott, her daughter, Cynthia Carpentier and husband, Skip of Walton, NY, her sisters, Alberta Grochowski of Southington, Adele Purdy and husband, Edgar of Waterbury, and Elaine Lavorgna of Waterbury, her grandchildren, Michael Carpentier and wife, Dana of Boston, MA, Kelly Banks and husband, Brian of New Berlin, NY, Albert Podzunas III of Ansonia, Heather Podzunas of Prospect, Melissa Wargo and husband, Robert of Farmington, and Daniel, Benjamin, Angela and Edward Podzunas of Wolcott. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Helena and Xander Banks of New Berlin, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Podzunas, a sister, Mildred LaFlamme, brothers-in-law, Sonny LaFlamme, Stanley Grochowski, and Dante Lavorgna and great grandson, Owen Banks. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Maria Goretti Church for a funeral mass at 10. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
