Margaret "Peggy" (Scully) Nutting, 83, passed away on October 22, 2016, at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Nutting. Mrs. Nutting was born on January 19, 1934, in Cambridge, NY, to the late Joseph "Mack" and Nellie (McHugh) Scully. She grew up on the family farm in Greenwich, NY, where she worked until she was in her 20s. She went on to work as a secretary for an insurance company, in Glens Falls, NY, where she met the love of her life, John Nutting. John and Peggy married in 1965, and moved to NC, and then to PA where they lived for years before moving to CT. Mrs. Nutting worked for AirPax, and most recently at St. Marys Hospital Gift Shop, and in the Child Development Center as a Foster Grandmother; both of which she loved. Mrs. Nutting was a very happy and active woman, helping to care for her granddaughter, Dani, and splitting her time between CT and NY to be with her sister, Tessie. She treasured all of the people in her life, and they will miss her dearly, including her cats, Scooter, and Molly "Mittens." Mrs. Nutting is survived by her son, John Nutting, and his partner, Stevie Hopkins, from Toledo, OH; her daughter, Theresa Demers, and her husband, Michael, from Brooklyn, CT; her sister, Tessie Scully, from Greenwich, NY; her grandchildren, Danielle "Dani" Demers; River Nutting; and Morgana "Nana" Nutting; her close cousin, Abdon "Jimmy" Buckley; her dear friends, Tracy Dionne and Shirley S.; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband John, in 2003; and her two brothers, Joseph Scully, Jr., and Patrick Scully, both in 1954. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Leo the Great, 14 Bentwood Dr., Waterbury. Meet directly at church. A calling hour will be held Thursday, October 27, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Flynn Bros., Inc., 80 Main Street, Greenwich, NY. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, 16 Country Road, Route 52, Greenwich, NY.
