Cheshire - Marcel H. Lafreniere, age 85, of Elim Park in Cheshire, died on Feb. 6, 2015 after a long Illness.
He was the son of the late Pierre and Azilda (Marchand) Lafreniere. He was born in Waterbury and worked for the state of Connecticut as a Correctional Supervisor Cook for 24 years in Cheshire.
He leaves behind his wife, Evelyn (Pelletier) Lafreniere; two daughters, Rachel Hammond and Monique Montgomery and her husband, Gary; a foster son, Robert Johnston; two foster grandchildren, Ashlee and Connor Johnston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a past president of the Franco-American Social Club in 1990 and 1991, a member of the Wolcott American Legion Post 165, and a communicant of The Church of The Epiphany in Cheshire. He was a graduate of the Culinary Institute, class of 1959. He enjoyed Bingo, cards, tag sales and cooking.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening, Feb. 10, from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A Catholic Mass will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at The Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to be made in Marcels name to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018
