MANUEL VELEZ Waterbury: Manuel Velez, 49, of Baldwin Street, also known as "Manny", died Monday, January 19th at St. Marys Hospital. Mr. Velez was born September 7, 1959 in Utuado, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Efrain and Elisa "Isabel" (Vazquez) Velez. He worked at Peter & Paul Company for over nine years. He also worked at Naugatuck Glass and Rondo Company. He was an avid sports fan, and he loved playing baseball and ping-pong, where he won many trophies. He is survived by his brothers Jose Velez of Wolcott and Efrain Jr., and David Velez both of Waterbury, his sisters Luz S. Figueroa and Rosa Luciano both of Waterbury and Diane Feliciano of Watertown and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and two godchildren. Among his many friends, are Robert Hollister and family who he loved like a son. A brother Hiram Velez and a sister Luz Enaida Velez predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22 at 7:30 am from the Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to Sacred Heart - Sagrado Corazon Church for a mass at 9:00am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8pm.
