WATERBURY ~ Madeline (Duval) (Markot) Kolanek, 94 of Waterbury passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Meridian Manor. She was the widow of Leo Markot and Adam Kolanek.
Mrs. Kolanek was born January 10, 1917 in Laconia, NH, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Lea (Cloutier) Duval. She was an L.P.N. for the Wolcott Rest Home for many years, and retired from Farmington Care in Farmington. She had also been employed by the Archdiocese of Hartford at St. Maria Goretti Church in Wolcott and St. John Evangelist Church in New Britain, retiring in 1996. Mrs. Kolanek was an accomplished seamstress and lovingly made the vestments and baptismal gowns for the church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and was an amateur artist, specializing in oil paintings. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Church and A.A.R.P.
She leaves her children, Leo Theodore Markot of Holt, FL, David Kolanek of Burlington, Diane Norris of Bristol and Jackie Taillon of Waterbury, her grandchildren, Lisa Taillon and her significant other, Errol Johnson, Jr,, Chris Taillon and his wife, Jodi, Marc Taillon, and Steven and Diane Markot, and 7 great grandchildren.
