Obituary

Waterbury Luz Selenia Figueroa, 64, of Waterbury, passed away on August 31, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of the late Wilfredo Figueroa. Luz was born on September 18, 1956 in Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Efrain Velez Sr., and Isabel (Vazquez) Velez. Luz will be remembered for her caring nature and everyone she came across affectionately refereed to her as Mom. She was also a longtime member of the Music Ministry at All Saints Parish in Waterbury. Luz is survived by her daughters, Elisa Figueroa (Alberto Ortiz), and Vanessa Figueroa; a son she raised like her own Robert Perazzini; her step-daughter Maggie Torres; her siblings, Efrain Velez Jr. (Zoraida), Rosa Luciano (Bernie), Jose Velez (Elissa), and Diane Feliciano; grandchildren, Robert, Nyri, Savanna, Edward, and Ninoshka; great-grandchildren, Julianna, Kehlani, Leilani, and King; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Figueroa; her siblings, Hiram Velez, Manual Velez, David Velez; her great-granddaughter Alanna; and her sister Luz Senaida. Calling hours are Monday, September 6, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Annes Church (All Saints / Todos los Santos Parish) 515 S. Main St., Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the Church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
