Wolcott Louis J. Martelli, Sr., 85, a longtime Wolcott resident and loving husband of the late Carolyn (Le Vasseur) Martelli, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Cheshire House. He was born in Waterbury on September 8, 1933 to the late Thomas and Concetta Martelli. He is survived by his three children, son Louis and wife Kristine; son Steven; daughter Tina Saturno and husband Edward; seven grandchildren, Kristi, Kate, Kayla, Anthony, Zoe, Jason, and Kevin; six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gianna, Elijah, Avree, Julian, and Noah; sister Maryann Giarratona and husband Joseph; sister Barbara De Lisi and husband Charles; and life-long friends Salvatore and Sandra Commendatore. Louis is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn; brother Michael Mickey; brother Thomas Junior and wife Dorothy; brother Robert and wife Patricia. A longtime Fairlawn resident before moving to Wolcott, Louis attended Washington Grammar and Leavenworth High. After high school, he enlisted in the army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return to the valley, his career was one of a tool & die maker and machinist with Les Deux and Hale Screw before signing on with General Datacomm from where he retired. He loved to cook macaroni, meatballs, and sauce on Sundays, homemade pizzas on Friday nights, and to watch cooking and animal shows with his wife. A hotdog aficionado, he frequented Blackies and the Reidville Dr. Frankies owned by his nephew Tommy. His favorite hobby was to watch and to admire all the talents of his amazing wife Carol come to fruition. Calling hours for Louis will be held Tuesday, July 30, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 10:30 A.M. at Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery in Watertown. The Martelli children would like to thank the loving friends, family, and neighbors who visited him during his time with Cheshire House, and to give a big thank you to the Cheshire House nurses and staff for their great care.
