Obituary

It is with deeply broken hearts that we announce the passing of Louis "Pete" DuBois Jr., who entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 18, 2025, after a brief illness, at the age of 84. Pete was the beloved husband of Mary Mulligan DuBois, his devoted partner in life and love for more than 57 years. Their marriage was the foundation of a family built on faith, compassion, laughter, and unwavering support.

Born in Waterbury on October 1, 1941, Pete was the son of the late Louis P. DuBois Sr. and the late Claire Ouellette DuBois. He carried the values instilled in him from an early age throughout his life. Pete proudly graduated from St. Michael's College in Vermont, where his love of learning and calling to teach took root—shaping the course of his life and career.

Pete dedicated his professional life to education and to the countless students whose lives he touched. He began his teaching career at Sacred Heart High School and went on to teach for over 30 years at Watertown High School. Known for his patience, integrity, and quiet encouragement.

Deeply committed to public service, Pete was an active and respected member of the Wolcott community, where he and Mary made their home for more than 54 years. He served with pride on the Wolcott Town Council, the Board of Education, as a Town Constable, and as Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. His service reflected his lifelong belief in giving back and strengthening the community he loved.

Above all else, Pete was a devoted family man. He cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he was actively involved in the lives and activities of his five children—a devotion that continued joyfully with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His presence at games, events, milestones, and everyday moments was constant and unwavering. Pete's faith guided every aspect of his life; he was a faithful Roman Catholic and an active member of St. Pius X Church / St. Basil Parish.

In addition to his loving wife Mary, Pete leaves behind his cherished children: Marnie Ciquera and husband Craig, Monica Hughes, Louis "Peter" DuBois III and wife Susette, Elizabeth Sullivan and husband Jim, and Michael DuBois and wife Courtney; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother Craig DuBois; his sister Jeanne Wall and husband Jim; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Lorin Trembley.

Pete's funeral will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, beginning at 10:15 AM from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, proceeding to St. Pius X Church / St. Basil Parish for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Woodtick Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
