LOUIS U. CHICOINE
Canadian WWII Veteran
Northfield: Louis U. Chicoine, 84, of Hickory Hill Drive, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 25, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Edith (Levesque) Chicoine, his wife of fifty-four years, before her sudden passing in November.
Mr. Chicoine was born October 29, 1924 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, son of the late Henri and Yvonne (Sicard) Chicoine. He was educated in Canada. He was a member of the Canadian Army during WWII in Europe, stationed in England. Following his years in the service, Louis worked for several companies and turned to his love of driving. He was a member of Teamster local 677. He was a parishioner of St. Anne Church and a member of Sister Yvonnes Workshop. He enjoyed traveling, his vegetable garden and tinkering with anything that needed to be repaired. He looked forward to and enjoyed the frequent visits of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his three children, his daughter Monique Chicoine and her husband Thomas Meehan, with whom he made his home, his two sons, Normand Chicoine of Torrington and Andre Chicoine and his wife Anne of Oakville. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren Alexander, Scott and Kristine Chicoine. He also leaves his sister Denyse Theodossiou of Laval, Canada, his twin brothers Yvan and Norbert Chicoine of St. Dominque, Canada, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by a sister Yolande (Chicoine) Tetrealt and two brothers Jean-Paul and Marcel Chicoine.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Woodtick Memorial, 420Woodtick Rd, Wolcott is entrusted with the arrangements.
