Obituary

Lawrence 'Larry' L. Horton Jr. beloved husband of Betty (Michaud) Horton of Plantsville died on Friday, Oct. 6th at the VA hospital in West Haven at the age of 73. Larry was born on February 24, 1950 in Rockland, ME and raised by his parents Albert Nason and Cora (Perkins) (Horton) Nason. He enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam. He worked most of his life as a diesel mechanic for local companies. Larry was truly a fix it, do it yourself man who would help any of his family or friends at any time. He married into Betty's large family and became more than a brother-in-law and uncle to them. It was like he was their brother and a grandfather to the nieces and nephews. Larry enjoyed watching NASCAR, snowmobiling and riding his four wheeler. In addition to his wife Betty of 50 years, left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his daughter Dawn Champagne, married to Christopher Champagne, his granddaughter Samantha Appelle, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother and a sister and Betty's 8 siblings. Larry was predeceased by his daughter Monica who passed during infancy, as well as his parents, 2 sisters and a brother and Betty's parents and 2 brothers. Larry's family would like to thank the amazing nurses and doctors at the VA for the support and care they provided to him. A private graveside service was held at the CT Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown. Woodtick Memorial is honored to care for the Horton family at this time and you may visit Larry's Tribute Page on their website www.woodtickmemorial.com to post a condolence, memory or photo.
