LAURIE (JOHNSON) MEMBRINO Former Flight Attendant WOLCOTT ~ Laurie A. (Johnson) Membrino, 47, of Wolcott, peacefully passed away at her home, on Wednesday, October 20th and now communes with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the wife of Dr. Ralph G. Membrino. Her sense of adventure, enthusiasm for life, devotion to friends and family, and empathy and love of all livingcreatures shaped her life and career and make her unforgettable to all who knew her. Laurie was born September 6, 1963 in Waterbury, the joyfully received daughter of Maryann (Mack) Johnson and the late Paul Johnson. She was a 1981 graduate of Wolcott High School and held various secretarial positions in the Waterbury Hartford and areas prior to her career in the travel industry. As a graduate of Southeastern Academy in Florida, she received her Diplomate in Hospitality and Travel in 1986, which initiated a devotion of her life to the airlines, drawn by the glamour of the industry, her desire to serve, and the romance of exotic experiences. Her service as a flight attendant extended for over 19 years with several airlines including, most recently, Northwest/Delta Airlines and United Airlines. She was the recipient of distinguished service awards and commendations several times in her career. Reflecting her love and concern for animals, Laurie was awarded her Certificate as a Veterinary Assistant from Middlesex Community College in 2008. Prior to that, she earned her 2003 Certification as a Pharmacy Technician from the University of Connecticut as a result of her natural interest being sparked by exposure to emergency airline training including CPR and Defibrillation. She also attended Naugatuck Valley Community College, Tunxis Community College and Waterbury State Technical College. Laurie leaves her beloved husband of four years, and dearest friend of ten,Dr. Ralph G. Membrino of Wolcott, her devoted mother, Maryann Johnson of Wolcott, her loving brother, Donald E. Johnson and his wife, Sandy of Wolcott, her step-son, Hugh J. Membrino of Wolcott, her mother-in-law, Emily Somma Membrino of Waterbury, her godparents, Jane and Joseph Mack of Farmington, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
