It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden going home of Kenneth S. Fortier, 63, on Tuesday, September 8th. He was the beloved husband and bestie of Jane (Monzillo) Fortier. Born in Waterbury on June 10, 1963, Kenneth was the son of the late Donald and Patricia (Reed) Fortier, who sadly passed away just three months ago. A graduate of Kaynor Tech High School, Ken worked as a dedicated union carpenter before taking an early retirement. Throughout his life, he was an active and faithful member of the Mill Plain Union Church. Whether he was teaching Sunday School to the children or serving on church committees, Ken was always generously willing to help others.
A man of many passions, Kenneth was happiest when he was surrounded by nature, working with his hands, or cheering on his beloved San Francisco 49ers. Whether he was bringing a woodworking project to life, tending to his garden, or taking endless camping trips to enjoy the great outdoors, he embraced life fully. He was an avid fisherman who always looked forward to catching salmon in Pulaski, NY, and fishing for stripers and clamming in Rhode Island. Above all else, Kenneth leaves behind a profound legacy of kindness. He will be forever remembered for his unwavering dedication to helping others, his generous spirit, and the valuable wisdom he lovingly passed down to his family.
In addition to his beloved wife, Jane, of nine years, Kenneth leaves behind a large and loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his children: Nicole (Angel) Fortier; Nicholas Fortier and his wife, Megan; Danielle Cangelosi and her husband, James; Megan Coleman and her husband, Jarret; Becky Benson; Erica Borrelli; Emily (D'Andre) Borrelli; Elizabeth (Alex) Scougall; and James Borrelli. He was an incredibly proud and cherished grandfather. His memory will live on in the hearts of the grandchildren he adored so much: Jasper Fortier; Kennedy and Jackson Fortier; Peter Benson; Anthony and Sophia Cangelosi; Grayson and Nico Coleman; Dontae and Noah Gibbs; and Makayla Borrelli. He also leaves behind his brothers: Keith Fortier and his wife, Susan; Michael Fortier and his wife, Jonna; and David Fortier and his wife, Sharon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on Friday September 18th at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 7 PM. Woodtick Memorial is honored to care for the Fortier family and you may visit www.woodtickmemorial.com for online condolences and directions.
