Beloved Wife & Mother
WOLCOTT ~ Kathleen A. (Picard) Fontaine, 61 of Wolcott passed away on Wednesday, December 22nd at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Fontaine, Sr.
Kathleen was born April 27, 1949 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Albert Picard and the late Claire (Langlais) (Picard) Gervais. She was a member of the Shrine of St. Anne Church, the Shrine Festival Choir and a lifetime member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was a graduate of St. Anne School and attended Crosby High School. She was also a graduate of Kavulas Hair School and The Connecticut School of Hair Design. Kathleen began her hairdressing career at Style Set and spent many loving years making the residents at Cheshire House, Middlebury Convalescent Home, and Rose Garden feel good about themselves through her hairdressing and cosmetology skills. She was a devoted wife and dedicated mother who also loved to entertain her family and friends with her expertise in cooking and baking.
Besides her husband of 39 years, she leaves her son, Jason Fontaine of Wolcott, her daughter, Candice Fontaine of Plainville, her brother, Donald Picard of Waterbury, her sisters, Claire LeBlanc and Geraldine Lambert of Waterbury, her step-son, Robert A. Fontaine, Jr. of Oakville, and her step-granddaughter, Christina Fontaine of Watertown. She was predeceased by her brother, Albert.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Harold Leever Center, the VNA Hospice Care and the numerous family and friends for their support and care during the time of Kathleens illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at the Shrine of St. Anne, 515 South Main St., Waterbury with entombment to follow at the Queen of Peace Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 pm. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott.
