Wolcott Julia Julie Mary Wood, 83, of Wolcott, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Marys Hospital. Julie was born on April 6, 1935 in Fall River, Mass., daughter of the late Michael J. and Helen (Higgins) Wood. Julia was a teacher in the Wolcott School System for a number of years before her retirement. After retiring, Julie worked part time at the Wolcott Public Library. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X and St. Marie Goretti Churches in Wolcott where she served as a lector, CCD teacher, and was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also an avid UConn Women Huskies fan and loved her dogs. She is survived by her brother, William Wood and his wife Lorri of East Hartland, CT; a son Michael Wood and his wife Jennifer of Canton; three nephews, Christopher Wood and his wife Maile, Timothy Wood and his wife Kim, and Jimmy Foley; and two great-nieces Isla and Nina Wood. She was predeceased by her sister Virginia Foley. Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
