BRISTOL ~ Judy (Ramos) Varney, 89 of Bristol passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was the widow of William S. Varney. Judy was born June 19, 1924 in Fall River, MA, daughter of the late John and Maria (Deroschers) Ramos. She came from a large family that emigrated from Portugal to Massachusetts. Later a few members of the family moved to Connecticut. Her legacy of knitting and crocheting will live on and will be remembered by those who received a cherished gift. Judy leaves her daughters, Marie Keith and her husband, Randy of Camano Island, Washington, Doreen Brozait and her husband, Joseph of Wolcott, Mary Ellen George of Bristol, Donna Varney of Syracuse, NY, Patricia Varney of Kent, Washington, and Carol Powers and her husband, James (Jr.) of Sabattus, ME, her sister, Mary Martin of Chicopee, MA, her grandchildren, Lynda-Gayle, Ashley, Christine, Allison, Mandy, Julie, Krystal, and Michael, her great grand babies, Hunter and Natalie. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jack, Manual, Americo, Alberto, Armand, John, Ethel, Auzenda, Alice, and a granddaughter. Judy will be sadly missed by all. Especially her daughters, who could always count on her for one of those timely stories about what they did as kids and her many nieces and nephews who loved to share in the joy that Judy and Mary would give when theyd get together and tell stories or sing songs in Portuguese. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to St. Leo the Great Church for a funeral mass at 10:30 am, followed by a private burial. Calling hours will be held on Monday at Woodtick Memorial from 5 to 8 pm.
