WOLCOTT ~ Joseph P. Voghel,beloved husband of Alice (Bordeleau) Voghel passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at St. Marys Hospital.
Mr. Voghel was born September 11, 1919 in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Hormidas and Marie (Fortier) Voghel. He had attended the Mystic Oral School for the Deaf and never let his disability stay in the way of achieving his goals for his family. During WWII he received several awards for his outstanding support of the war effort. He was an amateur woodworker and built his own home in Wolcott. Mr. Voghel retired from Mattatuck Mfg. Co. after 38 years of service.
Besides his wife, Alice of 63 years, he leaves his sons, Henry Voghel and his wife, Nancy of Wolcott and Allen Voghel and his wife, Maria of Wolcott, his brother, Roger Voghel of Waterbury, his grandchildren, Holly Pratt, Derek Voghel and his wife, Sarah, Nicholas and Jared Voghel, and his great grandson, Christopher.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am on December 15, 2012 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 3000 North Main St., Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Woodtick Memorial has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
