Wolcott ~ Joseph G. Dunn died peacefully at St. Marys Hospital on Sunday, December 1, 2013 with his loving wife Marilyn of 61 years, and all his children by his side. He was born in Waterbury on July 28, 1932, the son of the late Joseph B. and Dorothy (Carney) Dunn. He graduated from Leavenworth High School and enlisted in the Marines in 1951. He served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1954. Joe was a career truck driver and retired from Old Dominion in 1997. He was a lifetime member of the Wolcott VFW Post 1979. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially on Christmas Eve and every Sunday for breakfast. Besides his wife, he is survived by his eleven children; Kathy (Art) Decelles, Karen (Jack) Hamel, Joseph (Laurie) Dunn, Mayor Thomas (Lisa) Dunn, Kelly Dunn, Stephen (Christine) Dunn, Kris Dunn, Darlene (Brian) Tynan, Doreen Dunn, Fire Chief Kyle (Angelika) Dunn all of Wolcott, and Michael (Gina) Dunn of Waterbury. He is survived by his 29 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Mary (Dunn) Misavage. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11 am at St. Pius X Church, 525 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott followed by burial in Woodtick Cemetery. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Wolcott View Manor and St. Marys Hospital for the special care during his stay.
