John L. McAree Loving Husband, Grandfather & Great Grandfather Wolcott ~ John L. McAree, 62, of Wolcott passed away on Sunday, December 6th surrounded by his family at St. Marys Hospital. He was the husband of Francine (Molleur) McAree. John was born June 1, 1947 in Waterbury, son of the late John F. and Mary (Corcoran) McAree. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving with the U.S. Army in the 25th Infantry Artillery. He attained the rank of Sergeant and earned three bronze stars and was awarded a Presidential Citation for Bravery. He was a graduate of the Hartford Institute of Accounting and retired from C.L. & P after 35 years of service. John was a member of the I.B.E.W., the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attending local vintage car shows. Besides his wife of 40 years, John leaves his daughter, Kristin Hassan and her husband, Dane of Wolcott, his sister, Margaret Cannavino of San Diego, CA, his grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan and Dane, several aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Frances Brown. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:45 am from Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm.
