Wolcott- Joanne (Colapinto) Shea, 50, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 11, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Joanne was born September 9, 1964 in Bristol, daughter of Gladys (Young) Colapinto of Wolcott and the late John J. Colapinto. Raised in Wolcott she attended local schools and was a graduate of Wolcott High School class of 1982. She had been employed at the VNA of Plainville and was most recently employed at Masonicare in Wallingford. Joannes greatest joy in life was her daughter Brianna. She enjoyed helping coach Bris softball games and their time at the beach. In addition to her mother she is survived by her daughter, Brianna Rain Scully Shea of Wolcott and her dear friend, John V. Shea of Wolcott. She also leaves her brother, Joseph J. Colapinto and Susanne Fuchs of Wolcott; three sisters, Sharon Gardner and her husband Kevin of Wolcott, Dianne Colapinto of Naugatuck and Donna Markie and her husband Dave of S. Windsor in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her father she was predeceased by her brother John, Jr. Jos family would like to thank her friends, co-workers, extended family and the community for their generous outpouring of love and support given to her and Bri. They would also like to thank the staff of Cancer Center of Central Connecticut for the loving care and compassion they provided. "She never judged, she made us laugh, she showed us hope and strength. She fought hard and never quit." Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday evening, March 14, at 6:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial 420 Woodtick Rd. Wolcott. Friends may visit with Joannes family from 3:00 P.M. until time of service. Burial will be private.
