Thomaston - Mrs. Joan Claire (Carpenter) Hitchcock, 70, of Thomaston, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the widow of Mr. John H. Hitchcock, Sr. Joan was born on June 23, 1946 in Waterbury, daughter of the late John and Rita (Duguay) Carpenter. Joan loved shopping, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Joan is survived by two sons, John H. Hitchcock Jr. and his wife Brenda of Oakville, and Russell Hitchcock and his wife Stacy of Salem, VA; five grandchildren, Johnathan, RJ, Jake, Logan and Madison; a great-grandson, Cody; two brothers, John "Billy" Carpenter and David Carpenter; two sisters, Linda Douthwright and Doris Sower; her loving companion Bucky; her daughter in law Helen Hitchcock; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Randall Hitchcock. Family and friends may call on Friday August 19, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
